Lift Pump Seal Kit

Yahoo Message Number: 39147
After reading several stories about folks here having leaky lift pumps, I decided that even though my pump is not leaking, carrying a lift pump seal kit as a spare part in my coach is probably a good idea. Cummins tells me that the correct part number for my coach is 3948104, but that the part is discontinued and no longer available from Cummins. To those who purchased a spare kit... Where did you buy your spare lift pump seal kit?

I bought mine from Cummins Orlando about a year ago. Not sure I have the same p/n.

I have one for you. I just completed a 2 thousand mile trip. Take my unit in for service, and after service it won't start. Guess what bad lift pump. So I am not sure a seal kit will do it, try a spare pump.

Thank you, Jim Spivey Allure 470 31432 (still being repaired)

Hi Robert, I purchased a gasket awhile back and there are two part numbers 1) The early style lift pump gasket P/N 4928511 and 2) The new style lift pump gasket P/N 4928512. After reading all the literature that was out there, I decided I needed the early style. My Intrigue is an 03 CC # 11554)and the engine serial number dictated I should get the early P/N. I have the Cummins document in PDF format that I can email to you, but I think it's already in the "Files" section.

Look in the files section and you will find the Cummins bulletin I posted there on lift pump seals. The bulletin is applicable to the ISL as well as others.

I think the earlier post about buying a spare pump is the best solution. I opted to do that last winter and found out there are multiple pump models used on Cummins engines and if you get the wrong kit you will be out of luck.
