97 Allure 36' Won't provide adequate motion in gear.

We just purchased a 1997 County Coach Allure, 36'. We have had to sort through some issues but the newest one is that when put in gear (Drive or Reverse) the accelerator will not build RPM or motion. When in neutral the RPMs will rev up to 2000 but when in gear motion is non existent even though you can feel the transmission engage.
