GFCI?

Yahoo Message Number: 118632
Been on this list for 10+ years and solved a lot of problems. Never had the GFCI trip before, and know it has been addressed numerous times but unable to locate a solution. Had a power failure last night, propane alarm at 4am is an exciting event and how that was connected to the issue I haven't a clue. But all outlets are out and front door entry light. Looked everywhere for it and the manual all without a solution. I see no reset switches anywhere. Ideas please.

Are you getting power to both of your poles? Have you looked at your transfer switches to see if anyone of them has a bad connection?

hello,
first off look in your inverter outlet panel ( on your coach usually the breakers at bottom of main panel. turn off inverter breaker and turn back on. do the same on the few other inverter breaker feeding outlets and microwave. Then check GFI in bathroom and one other spot. usually 2 GFI. Then still not on, go to inverter and see if reset on breaker is tripped.
your outlets only work when inverter is working as they are powered thru inventer even when hooked up to shore power.

good luck

In addition, you may need to reset the inverter. Time to get the manual out on the inverter if you don't know how, or come back here with which inverter you have.

Appreciate the responses to my GFCI failure (or tripped). However, before I reset the inverter or go farther, I can't locate a GFCI reset on any of my outlets. What am I missing?

I could not locate one either but my wife found it on the bedroom wall under clothes hamper, near the floor.

Lon.....Typically, the GFCI outlet will be the outlet that is physically the closest to the inverter. In my coach, it is the bedroom Outlet on the passenger side of the bedroom. The rest of the outlets in the coach, except for the microwave Outlet, are fed from this GFCI outlet.

One other thought, if you are not the original owner of the coach, the GFCI may have been replaced by a standard outlet by the previous owner.

I'd find that one GFCI outlet that all others come off of. That one outlet will have a reset button on it. Ours is located in the bedroom below the washer/dryer. Keep looking till you find it. That fixed our problem!

You are missing the GFCI outlet. Trust me there is one somewhere just keep looking. On our 2003 Magna its in the bedroom, a spot I least expected.

Lon, check the outlet beneath the glass front cabinet located across from the sink in the drivers side living room slide.

On my inspire it is on the wall above the short counter by the dining set on the drivers side I believe.

On my list of past repairs:

*GFCI outlets go bad and must be replaced.
*Duplex outlets can fail due to wiring connections loosening due to years of bouncing down the road.
*Wiring junction boxes have wire nuts can loosened.

If your coach was owned by someone before you, the GFCI may have been replaced with a standard outlet.

Do you have the electrical schematics? The location of the GFCI outlet can probably be tracked down with some detective work.

Good luck!

The GFCI on our 05 Inspire is in the outlet over the countertop below the china cabinet, just above the circuit breaker panel.

Well, Thanks to all who beat me about the head and shoulders to keep looking . . . exclaiming "it's there." Much appreciated, truly.

I did locate it. I had checked all the outlets top to bottom, the key was "close to the inverter" as one suggested. On the kitchen floor across from the propane alarm under the thermostat area. As a side note, who in their RV right mind would ever plug anything in there? But I digress.

Exacerbating the issue, the circuit breaker for our Samsung reefer was apparently hooked up to the outlets CB. We had turned off the reefer via CB when storing last week. We are original owner to this '06 Inspire and one would think we figured most of this out. An endless puzzle . . .

Again, thank you all.

Too bad that it took so much effort but look at it this way: you had an opportunity to learn a lot more about your coach.
