Transmission Codes

Yahoo Message Number: 118590
I have a 2006 CC Inspire 360 with a 3060 Allison trans. Driving from Las Vegas this morning the ABS dash light went on then saw the check trans light on the dash, the speedometer stopped working and the trans. defaulted into 5 gear. Stopped in Jean the run the codes but the key pad had the mode light on the indicator panel has the # on both sides. When I pressed the up and down switches the panel went blank. Any thoughts on what the cause might be? Tried to limp home in 5ft fear but the wife said the trans was making weird noises, so stuck in Primm until tomorrow. Either being towed back to Vegas on maybe Allison tech or somebody hear can figure it out. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the dreaded "cat eyes". I had the same thing happen to my previous '96 Magna and ended up replacing the transmission ECM. About $500 as I recall.

There are worse places to be stuck than Primm, enjoy.

My connector from the transmission to the transmission control unit located under the drivers Bay came loose once. It defaulted to safe mode, had it towed and the shop found it was loose but not disconnected. Fixed the problem.

While I have never experienced this, I do remember reading about a connection back on top of transmission that can get water in it, cause problems. Have a look at that connector too.

Mike,

Last year I had the same problem with my Monaco Sig. I was able to limp it into a nearby Allison Shop. Pulling into the repair shop the full functions returned (figures). The shop pulled the codes for the failure event and it turned out to be low/no voltage to the transmission ECU. They checked battery voltage and connections all good. Worked fine going home only to return when I was backing

Thanks for the info. Was towed into Williams today (Allison repair shop in Las Vegas). They jumped on the repair right away. The tech found that the J1939 wires were melted again. Wasn't suppose to happen but did. They need to order some parts for the repair, so I ended up leaving the coach. Counld be happier with the service I received at WWW Williams.
