Has Anyone Switched to 315/80R-22.5 from 12R-22.5

I will probably need to replace my 7 yo Toyo's in order to sell my coach. I am looking into options and note that the metric 315/80R-22.5 is pretty much identical in diameter, but 17mm (just under 5/8") wider. That could cause problems on the rear tires.....or not. Don't know.

Has anybody made that switch?

We replaced our Toyos with B F Goodrich ST230's. Pat at Pro Tire in Denton TX recommended them. He has worked on many Country Coach and Prevost motor homes.

We replaced our 12R-22.5 with the 315/80r-22.5 Michelin XZA2 Energy tires.
Superior Tire in Salem Oregon did the work and I purchased the tires through the FMCA Michelin program.
We have driven about 6,000 miles with the new tires on all sorts of roads from freeways to rutted dirt Mexican roads and we have had no issues so far.
I did ask about the extra width and Superior was not concerned about it. I looked between the tires and there is lots of daylight.

I had 12R 22.5 and change to the 295/80-22.5 It Is the same tire rating (WEIGHT) as the 12R Toyo's in fate a little more! The speed is the same as the Toyto's. They are a litter smaller but did give me a better ride, The 315/80R-22.5 are about $200.00 more per tire! A lot of people are putting on the Briddestone something 250? You can look at this site and fine infor on them. ALL THIS CAME FROM THE TIRE CHART ON LINE AND TALKING TO 4 TIRE PEOPLE be for putting them on.
This is not to get any on upset! it"s what i did and it worked for me, I am very happy with the 295/89-22.5 DAN 2000 ALLURE # 30498 702-277-3148

I made the switch less than a month ago from 12R22.5 to the ZXA2 Energy 315/80R22.5 because this tirer was not available in the 12R22.5. I was told by TCI (Tire Centers Inc.) the additional width was not enough to cause any problems.

Thanks everyone. That is exactly what I was looking for. And as an alternative, a local tire dealer proposed giving some thought to stepping down to 11R's, similar to what Dan did above. The rating on 315's is way above my needs since I only have a 34' coach with (scale weight) 5100# each on the front wheels and 4800# each on the rear. That provides over 1000# of excess load capacity per tire with the 11R's.
They are 1 1/4" shorter in diameter and 9/16" narrower than 12R's, which I doubt would be all that noticable. Cost wise, so far without having had the time to really work the dealer network, just pricing Toyo M-111z (12R) against Toyo M-147 (11R), the difference is $3400 out the door vs. $5300. The reason I am told is there are far more choices with 11R's since there are a lot more RV's and commercial vehicles running that size.
If I go this route, all I need to do then is drop by a Cummins dealer and get the ECU reprogrammed for the different tire size.

I just made the switch on the rears from 12R22.5 to 315R80 22.5. Jim Dickman in Junction City documented for me that the dual spacing of the metric met the requirements.
I got Continental HSL1 Coach tires which, as the name makes clear, are designed for coach use. They are excellent over the 1,200 miles I have driven them.
